What you see at Ba Na Hills

Getting to Ba Na Hills from Hoi An

Ba Na Hills is about 65 km from Hoi An, roughly 1.5 hours by road, and about 40 km from Da Nang. You have three options:

  1. A guided tour with hotel pickup. The easiest choice: transport, queues and timing are handled, and most full-day tours include the cable car ticket. Check the inclusions of the tour you pick.
  2. A private car or taxi plus a ticket bought at the gate. More flexible, but you queue yourself.
  3. A motorbike. Only for confident riders; the road is busy with tour buses.

Go early and avoid weekends. Ba Na Hills is very busy on Vietnamese weekends and holidays. An early start means a shorter queue at the cable car and the Golden Bridge before the crowds.

Weather on the mountain

The top of Ba Na Hills is much cooler than the coast, often 5–10°C cooler, and it can be foggy or rainy even when Hoi An is sunny. Bring a light jacket and check the forecast for the mountain, not the town. Clear mornings give the best views; fog has its own atmosphere on the Golden Bridge but hides the panorama.

Questions travellers ask

About 65 km, around 1.5 hours by road. Most tours pick you up from your Hoi An hotel in the morning and drop you back in the late afternoon.

Most full-day guided tours include the cable car ticket, but some budget and transfer-only options do not. Always check the inclusions before booking.

For the cable car and the Golden Bridge, yes. It is a resort-style attraction rather than a natural site, so expect crowds and theme-park elements.

Early on a weekday morning. The dry season from February to August usually has the clearest views.

Comfortable shoes and a light jacket, as the top is noticeably cooler and can be misty or wet.
